Partners Carlos De Puy and Juan David Morgan Jr. and associate Carolina Palacios, resident attorney at our London office, participated as delegates in the international shipping industry conference and exhibition “Posidonia 2010”, which took place in Athens, Greece.
Posidonia is one of the major maritime events held every two years. It was attended by legal and shipping professionals from banks and financial institutions, charterers, in-house counsel and legal officers, salvors, ship agents, ship chandlers and ship repairers, among others.
This year, IMMARBE (International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize), hosted a lunch where Captain Encarnacion Samaniego, General Director of IMMABRE, gave the audience a brief introduction of the registry, followed by the presentation of Dr. Carlos De Puy named “Belize Maritime Laws: Past, Present and Future”, which clearly highlighted the legal background of Belize as a maritime nation and the main features of the new law.
