Regulatory Law, Energy and Telecommunications

Since 1997, the Republic of Panama undertook the privatization of all telecommunication services as well as the generation and distribution of electricity. In each of these fields, our attorneys have extensively participated in activities as varied as the drafting of legislation, advising bidders for hydroelectric generation concessions, advising holders of cellular concessions in the enforcement of their rights and, in general, advising clients in permits and other proceedings before the regulator for public services.

In addition to electricity and telecommunications, our professional experience covers a wide range of regulated activities such as water supply, aviation and air transport, mining and oil permits, among others. The depth of our knowledge has allowed us to participate in some of the largest and most important transactions in the Republic of Panama and Central America in each of these areas.

Of particular note is our continuous advice for clients involved in the generation of energy, including our participation in all stages of the development of the two largest hydroelectric projects in Panama in the last 25 years.
